A state-of-the-art digital still camera, the GC-QX3U is equipped with a 3.3 megapixel CCD plus Bayer Array RGB filter for extraordinarily bright colors, 2.3x all-glass lens and three high-quality still image shooting modes including a 6M Pro-Still mode that provides the equivalent of 6-million pixel resolution. In addition, the camera features a video mode and unique collage mode, a built-in flash with red-eye reduction, super-bright (200,000 pixel) LCD screen, video output and SmartMedia compatibility.
Three High-Quality Still Image Shooting Modes:
6M Pro-Still (Pixel Shift Mode) collects twice as much image data by using two exposures (with the CCD shifted one pixel for the second exposure), resulting in an image consisting of 6 million pixels, or twice as many in normal mode.
DR Pro-Still (Wide Range Mode) uses two exposures, one with the exposure adjusted for the dark portions of the image, and one with exposure adjusted for the bright portions. By using the image data from both exposures, the GC-QX3U achieves a wide dynamic range that was previously impossible--approaching the latitude of conventional film.
NR Pro Still (Noise Reduction Mode) uses several exposures to collect a large amount of image information, then extracts the signal components and eliminates the noise components. This dramatically reduces electronic picture noise which occurs easily with conventional digital cameras--by up to 18db for significantly clearer, cleaner images.
High Performance:
Hi-Contrast 2.3x optical zoom lens (35mm equivalent of 37mm to 86mm) with macro focus and 7x digital zoom with glass aspherical lenses so even far-away shots are crisp and detailed.
Equipped with a large 2-inch 200,000-pixel TFT polycrystalline silicon color LCD monitor. Also has an optical viewfinder.

Special effects modes include Black and White, Sepia, and Negi-Posi (applicable during shooting and playback) and a unique Collage function. This sophisticated function lets you mask and layer images without the need for a PC and additional software! Shoot a background such as a landscape. Shoot another image, such as a person, on a solid light-color background. The GC-QX3 gives you the creative freedom to superimpose the two images, and add unlimited new elements to the image.
